A good choice at the price July 18, 2010 G70 (MI) As others have observed, this is not a precision science-lab quality tool. It is, however, very useful as a basic I/R thermometer in situations where fine levels of accuracy are not critical. I got it to help detect leaks in my home HVAC ducting, and it accomplished that task very well. I also learned how much heat the cable box generates (lots, even when turned off), and find that it can be handy on other occasions, too. Based on the specs and the sample size/distance ratio, the Raytek MT6 is a better instrument, but it is also significantly more expensive. If a toy/curiosity is what you seek, or even for casual home use, this Actron will fit the bill. That said, if precision or the ability to read from a bit more distance matters, and the price difference is not a factor, step past this one.
Actron CP7875 PocketTherm Infrared Thermometer July 12, 2010 James W. Mclaughlin this product is ok for checking air condition vents and drafts.I use it to check my auto car air vents so will know when to service my air conditions
Seems work, nothing special July 10, 2010 Customer Review I got this to measure the temperature of my disk brakes and in our server room. On solid surfaces it does good and up close, but from a distance not so great. Seems to be okay for the price though.
Handy device to have around the shop. July 9, 2010 David W. Williams (Indiana, USA) Works great and a really good price. Doesn't have a laser to show where the reading is taken from and 10 inches is the maximum distance from target area. My son checked accuracy against a much more expensive infrared thermometer and the Actron came very close to the right temperature. This winter I am using this to check insulation of our home.
Great for what I use it for July 7, 2010 Flasunlover (Plam Bay, FL) I purchased it about six months ago. I use it regularly to determine if my non-Teflon coated skillet or fry pan is hot enough to start cooking. It prevents me from adding food to a cold pan causing it to stick.
